(North Fayette, Pennsylvania -- September 7, 1996) -- Applied Analytic Systems announced the release of their 16-bit NeuroShell 2 component for Delphi 1.0 and the 32-bit version for Delphi 2.0. The TNeural component encapsulates the functionality of Ward Systems Group’s NeuroShell 2 runtime dll which allows neural network developers to run trained networks from several Windows-based programming languages.

Used to address a variety of prediction, forecasting, and classification problems, NeuroShell 2 networks are designed and trained using a spreadsheet-like grid from within the NeuroShell environment. Once trained, developers can deploy their trained networks using the royalty-free runtime dll which ships with the NeuroShell 2 system. Interfacing the dll to a Delphi program, however, requires significant additional Object Pascal programming. The TNeural component allows neural network developers using Delphi for their graphical user interface to run their networks within minutes of placing the component on their form.

The component, along with the dll, is capable of executing any network trained with the NeuroShell 2 package. Users only need to supply the name and path of the network ‘.def’ file and the network inputs. The result is an easy-to-use alternative either for those programmers who may not have the time or for those who may not possess the expertise to code an interface to the dll.

Applications Development Director, Jayant Singh, notes that "Once designers develop a neural model, they usually have to supervise its integration into the user interface. With the TNeural component, a neural network designer doesn’t need to know Delphi, and the Delphi programmer doesn’t necessarily need to understand neural networks."

The TNeural component is available directly from Applied Analytic Systems. It is intended for all companies developing Delphi interfaces to NeuroShell models. TNeural sells for $69 for a single-developer, and $149 for unlimited use by developers at a single location. The component requires Windows 3.1x with Delphi 1.0, or Windows NT or Windows 95 with Delphi 2.0, and the NeuroShell 2 development system.
